The difference in Xeomin® is that it does not carry the proteins that are typical of the other products. The potential advantage lies in the lessened likelihood of antibodies being formed to the proteins which – for a very limited number of patients – can render the product ineffective. (This typically is only seen in patients who have used botulinum toxin for an extended period of time.)

Like Botox, Jeuveau® has a molecular weight of 900 kDa, but they’re produced in different facilities and are derived from different strains of the same toxin. (Botox, or onabotulinumtoxinA, is made by Allergan in Westport, Ireland; Jeuveau®, or prabotulinumtoxinA, comes out of Seoul, South Korea.) The risks and potential side effects listed by the companies are also identical.
